Hi, I'm Rachel Matuli, a physical therapist at our Neenah location. Today, I'm going to discuss the importance of a home exercise program.
A home exercise program is a custom-tailored plan specific to your needs. We start with an initial evaluation and then tailor exercises specifically for you. If the exercises require equipment, we will provide you with an exercise band for resistance. Our goal is to make your home exercise program simple yet effective, allowing you to perform it at your convenience.
Typically, we see our patients one to three times a week in the clinic, with each appointment lasting about an hour. It's crucial that we teach and encourage our patients to be diligent with their home exercise program because just one hour a week in the clinic is not enough for significant progress in their plan of care.
We use a web-based program called MedBridge for our home exercise programs. MedBridge offers printable exercise plans that include pictures, descriptions, sets, and repetitions—everything you need to succeed with your home exercises. There's also a digital version available through their app, where you can follow along on the web and watch instructional videos.
This is why a home exercise program is so important.
